This paper represents the search for a technique to measure, and to scale, perceived urgency. A single sound parameter known to have a strong influence on perceived urgency, speed is varied and subjects required to estimate its urgency. Three different methods of scaling are used on the same set of stimuli, and the cross modality matching validation for exponents is used. The experiments provide a comparison of different scaling techniques
