<abstract>Los autores describen los esfuerzos desplegados por algunas agencias internacionales, es especial el International Development Research Center (IDRC), para promover la seguridad del agua apta para consumo humano enlos hogares de los países en desarrollo. Una característica importante de los proyectos del IDRC, es el establecimiento deun simple programa de monitoreo comunitario de la calidad del agua.
