As hot topics go, financial and security ratings for insurance and reinsurance companies is pretty much at boiling point. There have been frequent changes in the rating of insurance carriers over the past three years, with a noticeable downward trend. Rating agencies have been described as the new regulators, holding life or death power over carriers. An independent analysis of the financial strength of insurers and reinsurers is important in informing the buying decision
