<abstract>En los últimos años del siglo XIX, España sufrió una etapa de cambio, caracterizada por la crisis en Cuba y Puerto Rico. Esta situación afectó directamente en la economía nacional, así como al Seguro, generando un fuerte déficit en la Hacienda Pública. Los ramos en los que operaba el seguro español en esta etapa son básicos e históricos, muchos de los cuales vieron su origen en nuestro propio país y en el entorno mediterráneo, entre los que se destacaban Vida, Marítimo e Incendio, y se empiezan a hacer contratos de incendios de mobiliario, de rotura de cristales y de "electricidad"</abstract>
