<abstract>Bajo la denominación genérica ATEX, se engloban una serie de Directivas Europeas sobre Atmósferas Explosivas transpuestas a la legislación española mediante dos Reales Decretos que son de obligado cumplimiento. Desde el 1 de julio de 2003, deben ser comercializados e instalados en el territorio de la Unión Europea sólo productos conformes a estas Directivas. En este artículo se refleja la última tecnología aparecida en aparatos y sistemas de categoría 3, para utilizar en locales o emplazamientos en los que pueden existir atmósferas con riesgo de incendio o explosión</abstract>
