<abstract displayLabel="Summary">The report updates the global macroeconomic scenarios based on the most recent evolution of the epidemiological situation. The information draws a very notable global contraction in economic activity during the first half of 2020, although the most advanced data for the third quarter point to a certain stabilization. The softening of the suppression measures implemented for the Covid-19 pandemic, together with the measures activated in matters of monetary and fiscal policy, are allowing the thaw of the contained demand during the first half of the year and, with it, a slow reversion to normality of nominal and real variables. This economic environment will have significant effects on the insurance sector, which depends to a large extent on the proper functioning of financial markets and general economic performance. To advance in the analysis of the potential effect on insurance demand, the report updates the review of the economic and health crises experienced in recent decades.</abstract>
