Sumario: The work of Carlos Pérez Siquier (Almería, 1930-2021) stands out in the Spanish and international panorama as a fundamental piece in the forging of photographic modernity and the professionalization of the medium in Spain, in the first instance from postulates close to neorealism and, later on, as a pioneer of color photography. In both aspects, Pérez Siquier acts from a privileged liminal position and with a singular look, fully aware of his authorship despite having started from an intuitive conception of photography, far from any academic training. Winner of the National Photography Award in 2003, the photographer has created a corpus that tangentially and at the same time deeply and bitingly enters into the debates of his time
