<abstract displayLabel="Summary">Las algas se han convertido en la nueva esperanza blanca para los biocombustibles: no ocupan terreno agrícola y no generan polémicas. Las petroleras se han volcado en ellas. En España, una de las empresas que más atención ha concitado ha sido Algaenergy. No por su proyecto de investigación, sino por sus socios. En agosto, Repsol entró con un 20%. No es la única energética entre sus accionistas. El año pasado, Iberdrola, a través de Perseo (su sociedad de capital riesgo), adquirió un 20%. La producción de algas proporciona una ventaja adicional: que el proceso de cultivo de la microalga es consumidor del gas CO2, que se asocia al cambio climático y al efecto invernadero</abstract>
