<abstract displayLabel="Summary">La primera mitad del siglo XX constituye un enorme despegue de la actividad de seguros en Cuba. Se constituye decenas de aseguradoras cubanas, algunas tan grandes y poderosas con oficinas en EE.UU. y Europa, mientras numerosas compañías inglesas y norteamericanas ocupan un espacio importante en el mercado. La actividad ocupa a centenares de empleados, agentes, corredores. En el plano legislativo, son numerosos los proyectos de leyes, tanto para regular el mercado, como para actualizar las normas del contrato de seguro, pero sin llegar a ser promulgadas. Se crea una oficina de control y supervisión que desarrolla un honroso papel dentro de la parquedad legislativa y la desidia gubernamental. Culmina el período con una amplia red de aseguradoras, estrechamente vinculadas a los bancos, que satisface las exigencias de un mundo que avanza a la modernidad </abstract>
