<abstract displayLabel="Summary">El Estado español no tiene una ley que garantice la cobertura de los servicios de bomberos a toda la población ni están normalizados los tiempos de respuesta a las emergencias. En esta situación de desregulación las administraciones van desarrollando modelos heterogéneos de servicios de bomberos de forma anárquica y errática.  En este artículo se muestra cómo, siguiendo tendencias universales, se va avanzando, aunque muy lentamente, hacia modelos de concentración territorial de los servicios de bomberos: hacia el modelo provincial. </abstract>
