<abstract displayLabel="Summary">El pasado mes de abril de 2013 echó a andar el "International Road Research Board", IR2B, una plataforma colaborativa a nivel mundial que aglutina a agentes de primer nivel involucrados en la investigación y la innovación del sector viario. La misión del IR2B es promover las denominadas "Smart Roads", las carreteras del futuro, las cuales deberán jugar un rol central en un sistema de infraestructuras de transporte integrado, sostenible, eficiente e inteligente, respondiendo para ello a los principales retos que afronta el sector viario: la gestión eficaz del tráfico, la seguridad, la sostenibilidad y una financiación a largo plazo de su construcción, explotación y conservación.</abstract>
