<abstract displayLabel="Summary">América Latina y el Caribe en la actualidad tienen alrededor de 652 millones de habitantes. El 25% de la población de la región tiene menos de 15 años y las personas mayores representan el 12% del total de la población. Desde fines de la década del sesenta se han experimentado notorios cambios en su dinámica demográfica, estas transformaciones en la composición de la población darán lugar a oportunidades y desafíos específicos para las políticas que buscan la igualdad y el desarrollo centrado en las personas</abstract>
