AM Best´s outlook on Guatemala´s insurance industry remains stable, owing to the following: an expected improvement of conditions in the Guatemalan economy, which should be reflected in healthy growth in the insurance market and the market´s capacity to further strengthen its capital base, as measured by the industry´s regulatory solvency margin and AM Best´s Capital Adequacy Ratio (BCAR). Economic activity tied to public investment and policies providing incentives to encourage private consumption helped the market to grow profitably during 2019. A continuation of such measures combined with strong underwriting practices could bolster insurance penetration and depth while maintaining profitable results
