<note>A comienzos de 2018, Estados Unidos comenzó una serie de acciones proteccionistas, como el aumento de los aranceles, las restricciones a los intercambios tecnológicos o el bloqueo de las instituciones multilaterales, con importantes consecuencias sobre la economía mundial, así como para el marco de relaciones económicas multilaterales. En este artículo se trata de cuantificar el impacto de la reciente escalada proteccionista estadounidense; estudiando sus condicionantes previos y los diferentes canales por los que se ve afectada la economía global. Por último, se concluye con una breve discusión acerca de cuál debería ser el posicionamiento de la UE en un contexto más fragmentado y multipolar.</note>
