Insurance organizations must have a strong focus on using data insights for product/service innovation and proactive risk management, and to comply with regulatory requirements and accounting standards. This is critical to satisfy rapidly changing customer expectations, build trust, and stay ahead of the competition. IDC's survey of 125 representatives from insurance organizations (including life, auto, health, casualty, property, and marine insurers) from North America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific shows that insurers acknowledge this and are making data management a strategic priority. However, they face significant challenges handling growing data volumes as there is a clear lack of alignment between organizational priorities and underlying
data management capabilities. This white paper takes a closer look at data-fueled use cases in the insurance industry; current barriers to realizing the full potential of available datasets; and the significance of
investing in a holistic solution for superior data management
