<abstract displayLabel="Summary">This report identifies impairrnents that occurred in 2020, as well as others that occurred frorn 2000 to 2019 first identified by AM Best this year. We also provide greater detall on the lines of business written by cornpanies that became irnpaired between 2000 and 2020. Specific causes have been identified for sorne of the irnpairments, with rnost falling into the category of general business failure arising out of sorne combination of poor strategic direction, weak operations, internal controls weaknesses, or underpricing and under-reserving of the business. The rnost relevant aspect of these impairments rnay be the products the cornpanies offered and the products' potential risks.</abstract>
