<abstract displayLabel="Summary">In 2021, the Joint Committee under the chairmanship of the ESMA, continued to have a central role for the coordination and exchange of information between the European Supervisory Authorities (ESAs), the European Commission (EC) and the European Systemic Risk Board (ESRB). The main areas of cross-sectoral focus continued to be joint risk assessment, enhancement of consumer protection, development of the regulatory and supervisory frameworks for sustainable finance and securitisation as well as monitoring and contributing to the development in digital finance, supporting scale up of FinTech through innovation hubs and sandboxes and cyber security.</abstract>
