Based on an examination of information in 15 selected countries in the Americas, Europe and Asia-Pacific, the study presents an estimate of the excess mortality recorded during the first two years of the pandemic. Likewise, it offers a review of the interrelationships of excess mortality with respect to other variables of an economic and health nature, and proposes an "Indicator of Efficacy in the Management of the Pandemic" that groups, through the use of a synthetic index, the effect set of all of them for a universe of 39 countries1.
