Title: Reshaping the social contract : the role of insurance in reducing income inequality
Publication: Zurich : Swiss Re Institute, 2022Physical description: 42 pSeries: (Sigma ; nº 3-2022)Notes: Sumario: The war in Ukraine is directly contributing to the cost of living crisis the world currently faces, with implications for inequality today. Sustained inequality over the longer term, meanwhile, has negative economic implications by reducing productivity, aggregate demand and thus growth. It also undermines the social contract by eroding trust in public institutions. Inequality impacts insurance demand. They find greater income equality and insurance form a virtuous circle: higher coverage supports a more equal society by helping households recover from a financial shock. Growth, in turn, boosts insurance demand
