Sumario: Indonesia´s domestic reinsurers sensitive to near-term economic uncertainties and catastrophe events. Weakened solvency at Nasional Re led to a coordinated replacement of capacity by cedents to other reinsurers during the 1 January 2023 renewals. Thinning capital buffers of domestic reinsurers present a significant challenge for them to withstand furthe balance sheet shocks.
