Localised risks, such as floods, forest fires and severe convective storms, already account for around 50% of total insured losses worldwide. This increase in risk coincides with growing pressure on the affordability of insurance. The problem is not only economic, but also structural. Many building codes are outdated or not effectively enforced at the local level; critical infrastructure lacks maintenance; and urban development in areas of interface with nature (such as forest edges) significantly increases fire riskThis includes: The rising insurance challenge -- Socioeconomic drivers of property risks related to extreme weather -- Stakeholder impacts on exposure and vulnerability -- Reducing risks by investing in local resilience -- Challenges ahead -- Appendix 1: Projected increases in the frequency and severity of floods and wildfires -- Appendix 2: Litigation cases brought against local governments and agencies -- Appendix 3: Government-owned or -subsidised insurance schemesMateria / lugar / evento: Seguro multirriesgo del hogarMercado de segurosRiesgos meteorológicosCostes económicosNormas básicas de la edificaciónMantenimientoInfraestructuras críticasPerspectivas del seguroOtros autores: Vichev, Zhelyan The Geneva Association Other categories: 324.1Rights: In Copyright (InC)Referencias externas:
