<abstract>This report analyse the main state of the Russian Insurance Market, and its decreasing number of companies in the beginning of the 21st Century. This issue was mainly due to the reinforcement of the control by the insurance supervisory authority for the observance of the requirements of the Russian insurance legislation and to the fierce competition between the insurers resulting in the cessation of activities by many small and medium companies</abstract>
