Sumario: Substitution of chemicals needs co-operation between occupational and environmental hygiene specialists and those responsible for product quality and costs. The SUBFAC-index has been shown to facilite communication between the two groups, as it quantifies the gains in air quality, taking into account air quality standards as well as volatilization. For non-dissociated molecules, the activity coefficients can be calculated employing the UNIFAC-model
