<abstract displayLabel="Summary">The objective of this project was to compare the muscular effort exerted during manual lifting tasks performed in standing versus seated posture. The electromyogram (EMG) has been used for many years to determine the muscle activity during numerous standing and sitting postures and tasks. However, very little EMG data during seated lifting tasks are available. The data that have been published involve one-handed lifts during sitting with no corresponding lifts during the standing position</abstract>
