Before Nicaragua's recent agroeconomic changes, large quantities of pesticides were applied to cotton fields by aerial applications. Many instances of poisonings of workers have been reported from Nicaragua and other Central American countries, particularly by the widely used cholinesterase inhibiting carbamates and organophosphate insecticides</dc:description>
