The Congress was hosted by the Nordic Ergonomics Society and the Finnish Ergonomics SocietyThis paper deals with the question of how participative ergonomics can be established as a normal approach to decision making within enterprises. With Imada's definition as a point of departure, the Scandinavian approach is described. Next, the problems in making this approach function in accordance with intentions is examined.
