<abstract>Entre los días 20 y 27 de octubre de 2000, la "gota fría" azotó toda el área mediterránea afectando también a provincias del interior en Aragón y Castilla-La Mancha. Tras la predicción del Instituto Nacional de Meteorología, la Dirección General de Protección Civil transmitió los avisos a las Delegaciones y Subdelegaciones de Gobierno que se verían afectadas, se activaron los Servicios de Emergencia y se constituyeron los CECOPI. Pese a estas medidas, la evacuación preventiva y la beneficiosa colaboración de los medios de comunicación, las fuertes precipitaciones se cobraron siete vidas humanas e importantes daños materiales</abstract>
