<abstract>Para comprender los fundamentos del proceso económico asociado a la "nueva economía" este artículo se propone explicar, desde un enfoque microeconómico, las transformaciones que se han producido en los mercados en general y en los agentes económicos en particular, articuladas en torno al rápido desarrollo y aplicación de las tecnologías de la información. En él se examina el cambio en los factores explicativos del crecimiento económico en relación con el nuevo paradigma tecnológico, la revolución tecnológica de la "nueva economía", las características de los sectores de información, y los efectos de la información y las nuevas tecnologías sobre los sectores tradicionales</abstract>
