<abstract>The aim of this article was to examine, therefore, the after effects of the common cold on performance and mood. Two methodological features were included to clarify and extend early research: first, testing was not conducted during the illness as this might lead to poor performance transferring to subsequent test sessions. Second, a range of mental functions was examined to determine whether similar or different effects to those apparent when the person is symptomatic are observed after the illness</abstract>
