<abstract>La necesidad de conectar América Latina con el euro es la idea básica que dió origen a Latibex, como mercado que ofreciese a las compañías latinoamericanas una vía de acceso a las fuentes de financiación europea. En este artículo se explica su proceso de creación, en el que la Bolsa española era el puente natural entre los dos ámbitos financieros, y su importancia como mercado de valores latinoamericanos en euros. Se ofrece, además, un análisis de la evolución de la inversión extranjera en América Latina, finalizando con un detallado examen del decisivo papel que desempeña la economía de Brasil en el desarrollo de este mercado</abstract>
