Few empirical studies have examinated the effects of widely advocated risk comparisons over a modest range of variations. This article adapts stimuli from one of these studies to explore the impact of alternative types of comparisons and contexts on risk judgments. In 1980, it has published a small study of the impact of risk comparisons on citizens playing the role of a hypothetical asbestos ttrial injury
