<abstract>En "El País" del 15 de enero aparece un diagrama en el que se puede observar el descenso de los efectivos de la Guardia Civil desde el 1º de enero de 2000 a 2005, que acompaña a la crónica en la que se da cuenta de la oferta de empleo en el cuerpo para el presente año y en la que se considera que la "plantilla ideal" debería alcanzar los 74.000 efectivos, que nunca ha tenido, aunque el catálogo para el 2005 recoge la cifra de 75.749 incluyendo 2.773 puestos de personal de reserva (el 24,4% del total de 12.385 en esta situación) en exceso sobre la plantilla, que se queda en 72.743</abstract>
