<abstract>The transport of hazardous materials (hazmat) is an economic activity of concern to society. In Sweden, tons of hazmat are transported by road and rail on a yearly basis. Although the probability of a hazardous material accident is very small, the consequences could be sever for humans and environment. Thus, the level of risk should be taken into account in decisions regarding such transports, and in determinig the costs and benefits of various transport configurations</abstract>
