<abstract displayLabel="Summary">El ámbito material de la LRCSCVM está constituido por dos elementos:Vehículo a motor y hecho de la circulación. Por tanto, para que a un determinado accidente se le aplique la legislación especial automovilística, debe haberlo producido un vehículo a motor y debe ser un hecho de la circulación, tal como lo defrne el art. 2 del Reglamento del seguro obligatorio de responsabilidad civil en la circulación de vehículos a motor. La casuística de lo que es un hecho de la circulación es inmensa y uno de los casos más frecuentes y polémicos son los incendios de vehículos. Sobre su consideración o no como hecho de la circulación y toda la problemática que se plantea al respecto, es de lo que trata el presente trabajo</abstract>
