<abstract displayLabel="Summary">A Constituição Federal de 1988 prevê mecanismos de controle da compatibilidade dos atos do Poder Público com a ordem constitucional. Basicamente, há duas formas de o Poder Judiciário exercer esse controle: o sistema difuso e incidental, cabendo a qualquer juiz ou Tribunal no âmbito de qualquer ação judicial subjetiva, e o sistema concentrado e abstrato, realizado exclusivamente pelo Supremo Tribunal Federal  STF, por meio de ações específicas nas quais questões constitucionais podem ser discutidas em abstrato. Interessa aqui apenas essa segunda modalidade de controle.</abstract>
