Workers' compensation insurance is an integral part of business operations in the United States. However, there are substantial differences across states in the laws and regulations that govern the provision of workers' compensation insurance. These differences can be significant enough to factor into the geographical location decisions of employers, and can influence whether an insurance company chooses to write workers' compensation lines in a given state.
