In the financial markets, interest rates took a turn and reversed course in 2019. A long- awaited correction in the equity market did not materialize -indeed, the market saw only further appreciation. In addition, the credit markets signaled few warning signs of an impending collapse. Total direct premiums and deposits were up 6.1% through third quarter of 2019 versus the same period the prior year.
