<abstract displayLabel="Summary">Across Forrester's seven vertical industry groups, service-oriented architecture (SOA) penetration ranges from 75% among utilities and telecom enterprises to 49% for public sector enterprises. Current SOA users are, on the whole, satisfied in all verticals, enough that between 52% (public sector) and 65% (services) are expanding their use of SOA. Leading firms, and 10% of services firms, now use SOA on more than 50% of their solution delivery projects. Usage patterns vary, with different verticals leading use of SOA for internal integration, external integration, pure data access, and strategic business transformation, but the bottom line is that SOA is adding strong value across all verticals.
