Sumario: The International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) is constantly engaged in dialogue with governments at international and national levels on all manner of issues, ranging from the environment to deregulation of services, from taxation to development of insurance market. The ICC has Category One consultative status with the United Nations and close working relations with the WTO, the World Bank, IMF, etc. As Chairman of the ICC Commission on Insurance the author explains the taks. The Commission on Insurance aims at fostering the deregulation of the world-wide insurance market, thereby allowing insurers and reinsurers to conduct their activities in foreign countries on an equal footing with local competitors. The Commission examines practical problems relating to the pricing of insurance coverage, regulatory measures and tariffs. The Commission also promotes the development of insurance in the emerging markets, most notably in Central Europe and the CIS, and Latin America
