Notas: Sumario: A number of recent findings support the hypothesis that reactive oxygen metabolites play an important part in the toxic effects of asbestos and other mineral fibres. For example, asbestos has been shown to catalyse the dissociation of hidrogen peroxide (H2 O2) to hidroxyde radical (OH.), and OH. formation has also been found in aqueous buffers containing asbestos without H2 O2. In these two studies, iron was considered important for catalytic activity in generation of OH.. It was thus concluded that iron mediated damage to cells could be an important mechanism in pathogenicity of asbestosRegistros relacionados: En: British journal of industrial medicine. - London and Margate. - nº 11, November 1992 ; p. 745-749Materia / lugar / evento: Higiene industrial Amianto Toxicología Fibra mineral Sustancias químicas Hidrógeno peróxido Hidrógeno radical Acero Medicina laboral Otros autores: Tagesson, Christer
