Sumario: The experimental work presented here has the aim, firstly, of comparing the differences found between the NIOSH P & CAM 239 and the AIA RTM 1 methods when applied to samples of chrysotile, amosite and crocidolite and, secondly, of comparing the mounting media D, A and AT, and the Porton, Patterson and Walton-Beckett graticules, when applied to a set of PAT chrysotile samples as used by NIOSH for quality control of asbestos fibre counting. Since all the samples were artificially prepared, as described later, the possible effect due to differences is sampling are not considered
