Notas: Sumario: Until recently, benchmarking has been used primarily to improve production and quality. Its use in safety has been limited to total OSHA frequency comparisons. Now, however, industry data and a methodology to thoroughly conduct data analysis portion of safety benchmarking are available. As a result, one firm's safety efforts can be compared to those of others within the same industry. Such analysis is straightforward and requires only work-hour information, OSHA200 logs, Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) data and workers' compensation (WC) claims data. BLS and WC data serve as the benchmarks.
