<abstract displayLabel="Summary">Los llamados procesos de integración de entidades financieras (PIEF) son una constante del mundo mercantil y financiero que se ha venido produciendo en España a lo largo del tiempo con total normalidad. Este tipo de procesos, que obedecen a la lógica del mercado, se encuentran de actualidad debido a la coyuntura económica que afecta, especialmente al sector de las entidades financieras, bancos y cajas. En nuestor país, se encuentran particularmente centrados en cajas de ahorros, siendo impulsados a través del Sistema Insituticional de Protección (SIP) por parte del Banco de España, como autoridad competetne en la materia
