<abstract displayLabel="Summary">La determinación del capital óptimo en las compañías de seguros es una constante en el mundo. En Europa, este proceso se conduce a través de la directiva Solvencia II. Suiza ha llevado a cabo sus propias pruebas. EE.UU. por su parte también ha visto la necesidad de revisar su capital basado en el riesgo con la Iniciativa de Modernización de Solvencia desarrollada en 2013 por el NAIC. El  objetivo de este artículo es revisar cómo están afectando las nuevas regulaciones de solvencia en los principales mercados. Se aporta una comparación entre ellos, incorporando la nueva y la antigua situación existente en los EE.UU.</abstract>
