<abstract displayLabel="Summary">La movilidad urbana está experimentando importantes transformaciones en los últimos años debido a las nuevas tecnologías, los cambios demográficos y sociales, y el aumento de la urbanización. Sin embargo, la manera en la que nos desplazamos y movemos las mercancías en las ciudades sigue sin ser del todo sostenible: numerosas ciudades presentan niveles inaceptables de contaminación, las emisiones de CO2 provenientes del transporte siguen aumentando y el espacio dedicado al coche continúa siendo desproporcionado. En el artículo se analiza la movilidad en las áreas metropolitanas españolas y su evolución en el tiempo, así como los gastos que realizan las familias en transporte, según la densidad de población de las ciudades. Además, se han recopilado algunas experiencias en el ámbito de la movilidad urbana que están siendo exitosas para la consecución de ciudades más sostenibles.</abstract>
