<abstract displayLabel="Summary">Deaths and injuries resulting from road traffic accidents (RTA) remain a serious problem globally, and represent the leading cause of deaths for people aged 5-29 worldwide.1 With the aim of helping countries to monitor accidents, patterns of accidents and for planning improvement in RTA in the ECE region, the Sustainable Transport Division publishes every two years Statistics of Road Traffic Accidents in Europe and North America. This data-driven publication provides a comprehensive picture of deaths and injuries caused by Road Traffic Accidents. The fifty-seventh edition of this publication is purely statistical in character and is limited to road traffic accidents involving personal injury and excludes accidents where only damage to vehicles was reported.</abstract>
