This will depend upon the depth and duration of any downturn  specifically, the magnitude of increases in interest rates and unemployment. Policy risks, including misalignment of fiscal and monetary responses to inflation, could disrupt market and consumer confidence and exacerbate home price declines. Some sub-markets, such as buy-to-let, could see notably worse performance than housing markets as a whole, leading to loss of confidence</abstract>
