[et al.]Sumario: This article analyzes the impact of health on employment among individuals aged 50 to 70, considering differences by race and gender in the United States and the United Kingdom. Using longitudinal data from the HRS and ELSA, it estimates how changes in health affect labor market attachment while controlling for initial conditions. The results show that racial minorities experience worse health and respond more strongly to health deteriorations, which explains part of the observed employment gaps.
