<abstract>A partir de 1988, México ha conseguido un estricto programa de estabilización económica, acompañado de una profunda reforma estructural orientada a modernizar la economía. La estrategia del ajuste se basa en un programa congruente de políticas fiscales, monetarias y cambiaria, que tiende a reducir la inflacción y a evitar sus efectos recesivos. Asimismo, se ha sustentado en la concertación de un pacto, suscrito por trabajadores, empresarios, campesinos y gobierno. Este pacto ha permitido articular diversas medidas y distribuir con equidad el costo social del ajuste. El propósito fundamental consiste en restablecer el crecimiento económico sostenido con estabilidad de precios</abstract>
