Seção: ArtigosTítulo: Sources of variation in back and leg dynamometry / A. Coldwells, G. Atkinson and T. ReillyAutor: Coldwells, A.Notas: Sumario: Three investigations were carried out to examine the concurrent validity and the reliability of a portable dynamometer (Takei Kiki Kogyo) for the measurement of back and leg strength. Back and leg strength, measured with the Takei dynamometer were both found to vary with time of day. The circadian variation of these measures was typical of a performance-related rhythm, since lowest values were observed in the early morning circadian rhytms in body temperature and arousal. The late afternoon rise in core temperature has some of the attributes of a pre-performance "warm up" at this time. The peak to trough variation in back and leg strenght during the day was found to be 17-20% of the mean values. If this rhythm is replicated in a larger sample, it would seem important to control for time of day when using the Takei dynamometerRegistros relacionados: En: Ergonomics. - London and Washington. - Vol. 37, nº 1, January 1994 ; p. 79-86Materia / lugar / evento: ErgonomíaDinamometríaFuerza muscularRitmo circadianoDinamómetro TakeiOtros autores: Atkinson, G.
